I hand knit mittens in wool yarn on four double point sock needles. This gives a sturdy construction that wears well and is comfortable. Colors vary from neutrals to brights, heathers to clear colors, in natural shades and dyed wool. Yarn textures range from very fine, soft fiber for liners to coarse, heavy yarn for hard wear. Knit mittens make good spare or replacement liners if you already have mitten shells (overmitts) in woven fabric or leather.

Hats

Wool hats are essential for comfort in cold weather. My hats are usually knit in the round and can be plain or have textured or color designs. In addition to keeping warm, hats can be a lot of fun or be a fashion statement!

Most of my work goes to friends and family members, but I usually make more than they or I can use. Sometimes I make something just to see if I can do it.

Before talking about prices though, read this commentary by knitters on LiVEJOURNAL (warning, strong emotions are expressed). I know very well that there are cheaper goods available at big box stores in USA, often made in other countries which lack regulations to protect labor and the environment. But, maybe if some of us start buying supplies from local farmers and making our own stuff, things might change.
