This is my mitten system devised in the winter of 2002-3. The bright yellow mittens knit in a soft merino cabled yarn fit inside the larger pair of navy blue mittens kit in coarser fisherman's wool yarn.
I drive a three-wheeled electric scooter to run errands. The propulsion system requires that you keep a hand on the switch, located on the right handle of the tiller. In the coldest weather, I wear both mittens. Either set can also be worn alone.
The coarser navy blue wool tends to repel snow and rain, but even when saturated, very little moisture penetrates to the inner yellow mittens.
